Password headaches!

Passwords are necessary when accessing many sites on the web - Amazon, Facebook, your bank account etc - but don't you just hate having to use them? One reason I like using Firefox to browse the web is because it can automatically save userid/password combinations for repeated use of certain websites. However this can be dangerous if you share your computer with others. Here are some options that save you the problem of having to remember all your passwords. The first is PassPack Password Manager. This encrypts your details on-line (and uses very secure encryption to make sure that no-one, including their staff, can get access to your password). This means you can use their services anywhere in the world. If however you're not happy with saving your details on-line, you can use programmes to manage your passwords securely on your computer. Try KeePass or Password Safe. Of course a common policy tends to be writing all your ids/passwords down in a book, which is not very secure at all. I must admit to doing this, but with one proviso. I only enter one or two letters of the password (as a prompt). Since I make sure my passwords contain both letters and numerals I'm hoping that any thief would still be unable to guess my password even if they stole my notebook. Still, if that unlikely event were ever to happen, I know they wouldn't have much to steal from me. Sometimes it pays to be poor!
